(How to get the best out of your cables, whatever they are)

Here are some useful general tricks to help you prevent cables from degrading the sound of your system:

1. Keep power cables away from interconnects and speaker cables. If they must meet, AC cables and signal conductors (interconnect and speaker cables) should cross at right angles, and not run parallel to each other. Crossing the cables at right angles minimizes the amount of noise induced. If this is not possible, even a small physical separation has a great effect.

2. Do the same thing with digital and interconnect cables….

3. Keep interconnects and speaker cables as short as possible

4. Keep the left and right cables the same length.

5. If you have excess cable, do not wrap it in a loop tied behind the speakers or electronics. This will make the cable more inductive by changing its characteristics. Instead, cross the cable so that it crosses the other loop at right angles.

6. Periodically unplug all interconnects and speaker cables to clean them. Oxide builds up on jacks and plugs (even if they are gold, silver or rhodium plated connectors) interfering with electrical transfer. Use a good quality contact cleaner (ask us for suggestions). IT WORKS!

7. When connecting and disconnecting RCA plugs, always grasp the plug, NOT the cable.

8. Make sure the connection of the RCA plugs and speaker jacks is tight (but not too tight). A high contact pressure is more important than a large contact area.

9. Avoid tight bends in cables and interconnects

And of course:

10. Preferably always use Soundcheck cables !!!
